Who We Serve
The Hair to Share Foundation serves men, women, and children in central New Jersey who are experiencing sudden medically induced hair loss and cannot afford and do not have medical insurance that supports hair prosthesis. The foundation provides these individuals with new, custom-fitted wigs that allow them to feel more confident about their appearance and, by extension, themselves. The foundation also provides essential wig care products, as well as education and support of the wig.
Why We Serve Them
Various medical conditions and treatments result in medically-induced hairloss. Individuals impacted by such conditions and treatments often struggle to maintain their identity while also overcoming the medical challenges associated with their illnesses. Hair prosthetics (wigs) are intended to reduce some of the emotional stress associated with hair loss, but, unfortunately, some patients’ financial situations and limitations of their medical insurance do not give them the opportunity to address their compromised identities. The Hair to Share Foundation was created to help these individuals.
Hair prosthesis may not seem like an immediate need for people suffering from various clinical conditions, but it is a need that people experiencing medically induced hair loss are reminded of every day. Rather than forcing them to see a sick person and be reminded of their condition when they look in the mirror, we want to give them the opportunity to see themselves – as they were, and as they will be again.
To provide any individual residing in Central New Jersey with sudden medically induced hair loss and without financial resources a NEW hair prosthetic.
